Dr. Wade has extensive training and work experience in the field of addiction. His clinical understanding of addiction is informed by his experience as a physician working with opioid addicts through the Veteran’s Administration and private treatment centers in the Greater Los Angeles Area, but he also understands addiction from the perspective of a researcher and scientist. While employed at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine, he conducted clinical trials developing medications to ameliorate drug craving among addicts and is a published author on the epidemiology of addiction.
His passion for recovery stems from his own personal struggle with addiction in his early life. Since 1998, he has been involved 12-step communities in California’s Central Valley, the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Orange County. His experience with addiction and recovery have spurred his professional interests and fostered a dedication to addicts and alcoholics who continue to suffer. In pursuit of this calling, Dr. Wade co-founded Crescent Moon Recovery (CMR). At CMR, he brings vast experience, both professional and personal, to create a model for treatment that incorporates the best aspects of the conventional treatment model with evidence-based interventions and novel adjunctive therapies.
Dr. Wade attended college at UC Berkeley where he graduated with high honors and two undergraduate degrees. He then pursued his studies further, earning his MD from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Subsequently, he underwent training at UC Irvine Medical Center where he completed his preliminary residency in internal medicine and then continued on to receive specialty training in neurology.
