    Pennsylvania Rehab and Recovery Resources

    Rehab Programs Pennsylvania

No matter how long the addiction issues have been going on, the good news is that with the help of an inpatient rehab center, most individuals are able to achieve sobriety. At Coastline, we believe that sobriety should be something that our clients enjoy for years, with continued outpatient support. Over 17 million individuals over the age of 18 have sought treatment for, or were offered care for their alcoholism.

Drug abuse and alcoholism treatment for Pennsylvania residents should offer short and long-term residential programs. Most experts in treating addiction to prescription or illicit drugs believe that the individuals best chance of survival lies in the amount of time spent investing in recovery. There are drug and alcohol programs that allow for shorter inpatient stays, but those who remain in care longer often have better recovery experiences. Pennsylvania rehab program types can be confusing, but Coastline helps all clients and their families walk through the admissions process smoothly. It has been reported by the Center for Disease Control that the rates of deaths due to overdoses had risen 44% in one year.

The treatment program lengths that are provided to Pennsylvania residents are much lake those offered across the country. Most inpatient treatment centers will push residents to commit to a 90 day drug and alcohol treatment program as it offers they a higher chance of sobriety. Occasionally clients come in for detox from drugs and then move into a short 28-day program, but we often see individuals struggling with less difficult addictions participating in these types of shortened program lengths.

There are many times those in alcohol and drug rehab need care for up to 120 days. These longer programs give those who have struggled with previous relapses, dual diagnosis and other mental health issues that require a longer time spent in intensive therapies. Since each client is wired differently and comes to Coastline with a unique set of triggers, history and traumas, every admission is handled uniquely.

Following any inpatient rehab stay, Coastline clients will transition on into outpatient treatment, a home that is designed to provide opportunities to rebuild skill sets needed for the future. These outpatient treatment centers allow clients to continue to be involved in the daytime therapies and activities of Coastline’s inpatient facilities, but gives them living off campus.

    Alcohol Therapies Pennsylvania

Experiential therapy for alcohol addiction can play a very important role in an individual’s recovery. Experiential therapy is sometimes referred to as play therapy as it allows individuals to participate in physical activities while dealing with the underlying reasons for their substance abuse. The pressures that come along when trying to talk through past traumas can be overwhelming. By giving outlets and opportunities to work therapy into playtime, clients are sometimes able to make strides towards recovery faster.

Behavioral therapies offer recovering addicts to learn more about how their behaviors are influenced by their feelings, triggers, and past life experiences. Time spent exploring the motivations or impulsivity is important for individuals who truly want to change the direction of their futures. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the more recognized treatment therapies at Coastline.

    Treating Alcoholism in Pennsylvania

Sometimes simply understanding the basics about alcoholism can help individuals understand what alcohol abuse looks like on a very basic level. Are you wondering if you or a loved one is struggling with their alcohol consumption? We understand that it can be difficult sometimes to differentiate between occasional indulgences and alcohol abuse. There are some common signs and symptoms of alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence. The following is a checklist of sorts, which may be helpful when self-evaluating for alcohol abuse. For most, any ‘yes’ answer to more than two of the questions would point to the need for possible intervention.

    • Ingestion of more alcohol than intended on occasions
    • Spending an increased time drinking or thinking about consuming drinks
    • Cravings for alcohol that make it difficult to focus on other areas of life.
    • Drinking has made home life more challenging, caused issues at work or school
    • Drinking to numb feelings of depression or anxiety.
    • Withdrawal from activities that once brought pleasure in order to drink alone.
    • Binge drinking that lead to severe hangovers and blackouts.
    • Increased consumption to achieve the same effects as previous drinking events.

Treating individuals for alcoholism and addiction in Pennsylvania often begins with some sort of intervention. This can be self intervention or concerned family and friends pulling together in an effort to get needed care for their loved ones. At Coastline, we believe that a skilled addiction treatment team should care for every client and their support systems. This treatment for alcoholism in Pennsylvania should look much like this:

Initial evaluation. This gives team members in our centers the ability to evaluate each client physically, emotionally and physiologically allowing for the next phase of treatment to be carried out in a way that is beneficial for the client. During this evaluation, baseline heath information will be gathered along with a complete history of alcoholism of substance abuse. Blood and urine tests will be administered to find out the amount of certain substances within their systems and then a treatment plan can be drawn up. This treatment plan will follow them through their entire stay with Coastline and give them continuity of care.

Detoxification. Detox from alcohol is a painful process and can be dangerous if not managed proactively. There are three main phases of alcohol withdrawal. They are the following:

    Immediate Withdrawal

    • Anxiety
    • Shaking
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Restlessness

    Delayed Withdrawal Symptoms

    • Seizures
    • Confusion
    • Shaking hands

    Extended withdrawal symptoms

    • Seizures
    • Inability to sleep
    • Increase in blood pressure
    • Hallucinations
    • Fevers

Delirium tremens – This final symptom of alcohol withdrawal is the most dangerous and should be treated urgently by trained medical teams specializing in addiction withdrawal.

    About Pennsylvania

Located on the east coast, the state is surrounded on four sides by land, with the exception of the Delaware River, which marks its southeastern border. With New York to the north, Ohio to the west, Virginia, Delaware and Maryland to the south, Pennsylvania is the 33rd largest state within the United States.

The State of Pennsylvania is included in the original 13 colonies established when the country was born. Pennsylvania was the second state to ratify the United State Constitution. There are many historical sites within the city of Philadelphia that commemorate this. Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell are two of the better-known landmarks. Many battles were waged on the land of Pennsylvania including the Battle of Gettysburg and Valley Forge.
