New York Employee Rights
Employees have rights while in rehab, but those rights only stretch as far as employers are allowed to help their employees. The employee who is trying to go to treatment might be allowed to go treatment and keep their job, but their treatment is not covered by the ADA. Someone who wants to take a leave of absence might need to use all their sick days, or they might want to use long term disability insurance to pay their expenses. New York employee rights are held by the employer in all cases where drug abuse is involved.
New York Drug Rates and Statistics
New York State citizens go to rehab at a rate of 38% for prescription and opiate substance abuse problems. New York drug abuse statistics show that 25% of citizens who are receiving treatment do so for alcohol addiction. 1.1 million people over the age of 11 deal with substance abuse in one way or another and New York drug addiction was a factory in nearly 7500 auto crashes in the past year. Opioid prescriptions rose by 31% in the past year, and this is seen as a reason that people are becoming addicted faster than ever. The people who are getting addicted are not given better options for pain management, and that makes it hard for the public to avoid this form of addiction.
Healthcare costs in the past year accounted for $26 billion when dealing with opioid addiction, and the citizens who are going to treatment do not always have insurance. Many of these patients have insurance, but they cannot get coverage for their treatment by using their insurance. Because of this, many people try to get off prescription meds on their own. 1.4% of residents in the state above the age of 11 said that they were using items like benzos and Valium. These medications are seen as good ways to control anxiety and sleep, but people do not know how to eliminate these medications from their daily routines when they are feeling better. They become addicted, and they need to go to treatment. What is more troubling is that some of these people are as young as 11.
Drug abuse is most prevalent in the age group that stretches from 18 to 25. These people are often at the most risk because they have easy access to medications, know how to buy medications on the street, and they are often drinking as much as they are using drugs. New York addiction recovery is often offered to these young people because they hit rock bottom while in this age group, but the same people might grow up to be in the 26-55 age group with this very same problem. 27.1% of Americans have reported that they are using some kind of addictive substance, and their drug abuse breaks down into a few different categories such as heroin abuse and marijuana use. Women in the military are at the most risk, and heroin addicts are the most common because they have so many ways of accessing this product on the street.
